Why am I getting a pixel limit error when uploading images?

Error Message -

The pixel limit is 20 megapixels. Resize your image and upload it again.

I am still in the dev phase, but changed my site drop ship print on demand provider, and am now attempting to adjust everything in the back end. Hopefully I don’t have to start from scratch. My images ar no larger than 15megs, why is this happening.

Please advise!!!

Hello Cindy,

I think you are confusing resolution and file size.

20 megapixels if the maximum resolution and 15megs would be the file size.

Here I uploaded an exemple :

resolution is 4928 × 3264 = 16,084,992 = 16 megapixels

but you can clearly see that file size is 3.2MB

You should be able to solve this by resizing your picture in a software like photoshop or even an online tool like http://resizeimage.net/

Let me know if you need any more help!

Try https://resize.live/ to resize image and then upload

Hi,

I use https://www.easyimageresize.com/ because let me resize, but also select the output file size!

So I can play with different sizes and pick the best quality/compression result!

Hi there! I’m sorry to hear that you’re running into issues with uploading your images to your Shopify site. It seems like the error message you’re receiving is related to the pixel limit of the images being uploaded. Based on the message, it sounds like the limit is 20 megapixels, and your images are only 15 megapixels. To resolve this issue, you could try resizing your images to ensure they meet the pixel limit requirement before uploading them again.

If you need a reliable solution to resize your images, you can try the app “Resizify” from the Shopify App Store. The app can help you optimize your images while retaining their quality. The link to the app is https://apps.shopify.com/compress-files.

Let me know if this helps or if you need any additional assistance.
