I am making a purchase, but I refuse to use the shopify text verfication code. I don’t want it, I don’t need it, and the seller is a little concerned that it is sending codes without permission. NO ONE WANTS SHOPIFY CODES. I followed the link from the seller and had to get past the verification code bleep. The seller apologized for the popup and has escalated the problem. I have replied “stop” to the idiotic text messages and its response is that it is not a subscription service. Well, it doesn’t matter. If I reply ‘stop’, any and all senders are to STOP SENDING TEXT MESSAGES. I had to create a shopify account just to send this. HEY, SHOPIFY, STOP SENDING CODES WITHOUT REASON! What is REALLY scary: I did not use my cell phone number during the purchase process; I used a landline. Somehow, shopify correlated the two and sends text messages without permission and without asking. I thought google and microsoft were invasive and intrusive. Shopify beats them.
In conclusion, it is not someone else using my phone number in error and it is not something the merchant requested. It is shopify invading privacy and intruding where it is not wanted.
