Why am I getting error 500 in my contact form?

Hi there, I’m having some troubles with the form here: https://eyelit.com.ar/pages/arrepentimiento.
After I send the message an error message appears instead of a successful message.

I copy here the message I can read:

500 Internal Server Error
If you are the administrator of this website, then please read this web application's log file and/or the web server's log file to find out what went wrong.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @angelocapaldi

The first step to troubleshooting an issue like this is to narrow down if it is a theme issue on the store caused by customizations or apps or if it is a potential platform issue.

To test for theme issues you will want to first see if you can replicate the error message inside the theme editor for the live theme.

  • If yes, please try adding a brand new and unedited theme to your theme library and test within the theme editor on that theme as well. I recommend the Dawn theme for your test.

  • If no, you will need to switch the live theme file briefly to a new theme file and test on the live website. You can password protect your store for a few minutes while doing this if it is live to customers.

If you are not able to replicate this issue in a new theme file, then we can narrow down that it is most likely an issue with the current theme (code edits, etc) or an issue within your browser. The next steps would then be:

  • To test the form field in a private/incognito window (We recommend Google Chrome).
  • Test in another browser/on another device/on another internet connection.
  • And test after doing a full browser cache and cookie clear.

If changing the theme file worked to resolve the issue you or your developer will need to assess changes made to the form within the theme code to see what is causing the issue. If none of the troubleshooting steps resolve the issue though, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our live support who will assist to the best of their ability to troubleshoot. Please note, that if you are using a third party theme file or a heavily customized free theme, our support may be limited.

Thanks Shay, I’ll try with that and then I’ll tell you how it’s going. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
