Why am I not getting any sales despite increased website traffic?

I launched my shopify page in Nov 22. I had on an average 2 to 3 orders per week. Until 2nd week January 2023, I had no sales. Though I had an increase in # of visitors to my site, but no luck with sales. I have on-going Google, instagram, Facebook and tiktok ads and I’m getting a lot of clicks to my website but they are not converting to carts or checkouts. I’ve been reviewing the analytics daily but I’m at stand still now and not sure how to proceed further. I checked other community discussions and they mentioned adding CTA button, buy button, clear return policy etc and I have all that visible on my website. Any guidance or help would be very much appreciated! TIA

Hi there! It’s www.naimamodestwear.com

Aloha! I check out the link you provided and it is not accessible.

Hi @Naimamodestwear ,

You’ve done a fantastic job on your site, it’s beautiful and easy to use. In terms of the site itself, I’d only really have two suggestions to make:

  1. When I was on your store I noticed you didn’t have your favicon set up. This is a really cool feature and it makes the page look a lot more trustworthy and professional. The favicon is the little logo you see in the tabs on your browser.

Here’s how you add a favicon to your store.

  1. Your Facebook social link at the bottom of the homepage doesn’t link to anything. If you have a Facebook page, do be sure to connect it.

Equally, though, if you have not got much of a following across Twitter/Instagram/Facebook/Twitter then it might be best to pick the platform you’re most likely to find your prospective buyers on and focus exclusively on that.

You’ve mentioned that you have ads running and visitors to your site, and it’s clear you’ve put a lot of hard work into making your site as trustworthy as possible, which is fantastic. Yet you’re still not seeing sales.

I suspect part of the reason for this is the lack of content on your site. I think you can afford to beef out your About Us page a bit more and make clear what your brand’s mission statement is. And then you need to shout it from the rooftops using a content strategy that targets the right audience (if you don’t have customer avatars in mind, you absolutely must).

You see, the aim of the game is to work smarter, not harder. So instead of using a scatter-gun approach to your advertising, you want to have a clear idea beforehand of the sort of people who might purchase your products and invest all your energy and effort in appealing to them.

Thank you do much Andrew for the useful feedback!! I will make the necessary changes. Also, I agree the scattered approach is not doing anything for me. Need to focus on 1 approach and keep that steady. Thank you!

You’re most welcome! I was looking over your store again and thought that I would follow up with some further suggestions. You see, your About Us page could be called the heart of your store. It’s not just simply where your customers get to know about you and your product, but about your mission and vision.

With your about page ready, you’ll have experience writing and also know your target audience so you could start looking at creating content e.g. blog posts for your audience. Writing blog content around your business, your niche, and also your products such as:

  • guides to using your products
  • products that work well together
  • your journey in starting this business
  • commentary on a major topic within your niche
  • interview with an influencer within your niche

Creating good content gives your customers a reason to keep coming back to your site for more.

You can use your content to help build your social media perhaps by using:

  • quotes from interviews on Twitter.
  • graphics with product combos from your product guides on Pinterest.
  • video interviews on Instagram or youtube.
  • having your interviewee share the interview on their social profiles

This will help you when addressing the niche audience you’re targeting.

Hi Andrew! Yes I completely agree with your suggestion and thanks for sharing on how to build the About us page. I did start on it based on your 1st response, just haven’t been able to finish it yet and update it on my website. The links you provided will be very helpful.
