Why am I not receiving all my Etsy emails on my 3rd party hosted email?

I’ve set up 3rd party hosting for my Shopify managed domain name. This allows me to send and receive messages using the domain specific email address(s) that I have set up. Everything is set up in Zoho and I can send/receive everything (even my web based contact form) EXCEPT most of my ETSY emails.

The Etsy sent emails all go to one address - I do receive only emails regarding my Etsy run paid advertising. The emails that I do not receive are orders, customer messages, shipping label purchases that I’ve made, 1099k information, purchases that I make on Etsy, etc.

As stated earlier - ALL of my other emails come through.

Please advise what I should do - Zoho can’t help me and Etsy wants me to change emails. I cannot change emails though as I cannot verify the change through a confirmation email when I can’t receive said confirmation of change email.

Thanks

Hey @lovesomegear ,

It sounds like you are having an issue with your email provider not receiving certain emails from Etsy. Since you have set up a third-party hosting service for your domain and email, it is likely that the issue is with the email provider’s server or configuration. You may want to contact your email provider for further assistance with this issue.

In the meantime, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check your email provider’s spam or junk folder to see if the emails from Etsy are being sent there. If they are, you can mark them as “not spam” to help your email provider’s filters learn that you want to receive emails from Etsy.

  2. Check the email provider’s server logs to see if the emails from Etsy are being rejected by the server. If they are, the logs should show the reason for the rejection.

  3. Check the email provider’s DNS records to make sure that they are properly configured to accept emails from Etsy.

  4. Check your Etsy account settings to make sure that your email address is correctly entered and that you have not opted out of receiving emails from Etsy.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

@Moira - thanks so much for the detailed response and ideas.

Your summary of my “email provider not receiving certain emails from Etsy” is exact!

As for my hosting service - the domain is hosted by Shopify and the email hosted by Zoho, they aren’t both 3rd party - only Zoho mail is 3rd party (if I understand correctly). Here’s a screenshot of my domain management email settings in my Shopify Admin panel.

As for contacting the email provider - I have. They told me that my domain DNS settings are all good and verified via Zoho. The ZOHO person put it on Etsy and wanted me to send them a screenshot of Etsy’s DNS settings - which of course I do not have access to. SMH.

I apologize for not being clear on all the steps that I’ve already taken in an attempt to resolve this issue. The emails are not in any junk or spam folders.

I’ve added etsy.com to allowed domains as well as mail.etsy.com

shut off all incoming spam verification

turned off incoming spf verification

set notifications for anything sent to quarantined emails

checked my quarantined, junk, spam emails folder

my Etsy email address is correctly spelled

checked all my restricted incoming domain and email settings

If I understand correctly - the email goes from Etsy to my domain host (Shopify) and lastly to my zoho 3rd party email hosting service. Am I confused on that? LOL. I was hoping that somehow the Shopify people could help me. I’ve struggled with this since December 7th and it takes an entire week to get a response from Zoho support.

@lovesomegear

Thank you for providing further context! You are right in saying that Zoho is a third-party provider whereas a domain hosted by Shopify is not.

I would have to agree with the Zoho team, I checked out all of your domain records and they are all correct (see below):

I suspect this is an isolated Etsy issue and without seeing the DNS settings from their end it’s hard to determine what seems to be happening with those emails.

I’m hoping Etsy support can offer a better solution for you!
