Why am I not receiving the SMS verification code on my mobile?

each time i try to update phone no. i’m not getting a verfication code on the no. i update tryied many times

I understand you’re not receiving your verification codes via SMS. You mentioned that you have tried updating your phone number, but this did not help. To confirm, do you still have access to your account?

If you’re in the process of activating two-step authentication and are not receiving the verification codes via SMS, another alternative is using your 10 recovery codes. These can be used as an alternative method to login if the enabled two-step authentication methods are inaccessible. Each of your 10 recovery codes can only be used once. I recommend downloading your 10 recovery codes to a desktop device. When you need to use the 10 recovery codes, you can locate them by checking your downloads’ folder for a file named “shopify_recovery_codes”. This is the default file name that is given to the 10 recovery codes.

Below, I’ll share some additional troubleshooting methods to try if you’re unable to receive your authentication codes:

  • Try restarting your device.

  • Try checking your mobile network signal as poor signal strength can sometimes prevent SMS messages from being delivered.

  • Check your message settings on mobile to ensure you haven’t accidentally blocked or filtered messages from unknown or short code numbers.

  • Lastly, try contacting your mobile service provider to check if there are any issues with your account or network that may be causing the problem.

Do you have access to your Shopify account? If so, you can view our Help Center guide on how to view and download your recovery codes to your device.

If you do not have access, the next best course of action is to create a support request via the Shopify Help Center. When accessing the Help Center, please type your question to the Help Center Assistant to be connected to a Support Advisor.
