Just though of asking here some clarification on this Shopify threshold bs fees I guess.
Back in January we were on the basic plan which has a threshold bill of $200 as this was always reached and above we kept getting $200 charges every single week - making the Shopify plan extremely experience at $800 p/m.
So, I thought of changing this to the advanced Shopify plan which has a threshold bill of $1250 or so. This would have saved us quite lot of money on the long term as the advance plan was $400.
Anyway, we haven’t reached the Shopify threshold but keep getting recurring charges by Shopify every week at $200 and $500 at a time?
Shopify has two types of fees: subscription fees for the plan you are on, and transaction fees that apply when you use Shopify Payments or another payment provider. The transaction fees are a percentage of the sale and are charged in addition to your plan subscription.
It sounds like you may be confusing the threshold for transaction fees with the minimum monthly charge for your plan. The Basic Shopify plan has a transaction fee of 2.0%, but it sounds like you were consistently hitting the minimum charge of $200 per month for the plan. The Advanced Shopify plan has a lower transaction fee of 1.0%, but a higher minimum charge of $2,000 per month.
If you have upgraded to the Advanced Shopify plan and have not reached the $2,000 minimum charge, you should not be getting charged the minimum fee. However, if you are still being charged, you may want to contact Shopify support to clarify the charges and get help resolving the issue. They should be able to provide more information and help you understand what fees are being charged and why.
