Why are customer shipping addresses duplicating on my platform?

I’m trying to work out why in some of my customer’s shipping addresses their address lines are duplicating. Sometimes to comedy extents. I’ve been in an edited a few customer profiles for a few, however, if shipping and billing are the same, the billing version can’t be changed and my address printing still looks like a comedy post where I really want the item to get to Runcorn Runcorn Runcorn Runcorn Runcorn Runcorn etc.

As it’s only a small number of customers (but not one), is it people duplicating their own addresses lazily spamming a tab key when they see their own address in an autofill, or is it something at Shopify’s end?

Hi, @Louise_Lee !

This error is indeed very odd, I’ve not seen an address duplicate like this before. It is unlikely to be a user error, as it is happening to so many of your customers. It’s best if your support team investigates your admin’s internal logs to see where the duplication is coming from! Could you reach out to our support team via our live chat feature so we can properly assess your account? I won’t be able to authenticate your account here from the Community, but once you reach out to our support team, they will be able to properly investigate here.

Could you let me know how you get on with our support team so I can be sure this is resolved for you? I’m sure this is an issue you’d like resolved so you don’t have to worry about it in future!

Would love to do the live chat, but every time I click the link when logged in, I’m asked to pick my store. I pick my store and it sends me to a generic page, I go back to this at the bottom and the loop starts again. I can’t get to the live chat.

Can’t find the answers you’re looking for? We’re here to help.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that! That is definitely frustrating. Could you follow these steps to access the live chat feature? That should get you through to support. Clearing your cache and making sure your browser is up to date may also help here.

If that still doesn’t work, please respond to me here so we can find a workaround for you. I’m sure we will get to the bottom of this!

Hi I know this is an old thread but you ever fix/find a reason? I’m seeing this exact issue a lot in my customer stores, seems to mainly effect UK addresses too. thanks!

Hi, nope, no fix. I rang the support team. They looked into it and decided it was customer error. I am still pretty sure it isn’t. It’s happening with a lot of customers, and it looks awful, but there’s not much I can do about it. Very frustrating indeed.

Thanks for replying. 100% not customer error, we have a lot of stores and see this a lot!

Well, I’m glad it’s not just me, but also, would like a fix. Let me know if you find anything out. If I have time I may give them a call again.

Sure I’ll reply back if i can anything concrete, its been raised to our shopify rep

Nothing concrete. I’m being told that it must be something on the customers input into the form. Still happens regularly for us, I think we are going to find a workaround rather than a solution unfortunately.

We have just started having the same issue. Has any of you managed to resolve it?

I never found a way, I am more distant from this part of our operation now but I think we are still seeing it
