I opened an online boutique about 4 months ago, I promote on Facebook and Instagram and pay for ads. I generate a traffic of at least 80 to 100 people daily and at least 3 abandoned carts. But they hardly buy. Can an expert guide me on what I should improve on my page to achieve more sales?
There are a variety of factors that can come into play in regards to abandoned carts. One tip I recommend is a potential culprit for dropped abandoned carts is shipping.
Either you aren’t offering shipping to the regions where you are getting traffic. In this case, you want to ensure that if you are running Facebook ads worldwide, but you only ship to North America, you are going to want to tighten your ad reach to only target Facebook users living in North America. Secondly, the cost of shipping. I added a $38 top to the cart and proceeded to checkout. I then see a $15 shipping cost. Which is almost half the cost of the product added on. People hate paying for shipping, but we also know it has to be paid for one way or another. Something you can experiment with is lowering shipping costs if possible, to more accurately align with how much you are paying shipping couriers. For example, if you are actually only paying $10 for shipping, and charging $15, you’re better off just charging $10 to improve conversions.
Alternatively, you can actually make your shipping costs very affordable, let’s say $5-7 instead of shipping. And pay the remaining shipping costs out of pocket. This will lower your profit margins, but $5 for shipping is far more enticing as a customer than $15. If your profit margins don’t have that sort of wiggle room, you can actually do a hybrid shipping method. You can keep shipping costs low at $5-7 and then increase the cost of your products by $7-8 in order to maintain your profit margins. It’s easier to sell your customer on the perceived value of your products as opposed to justifying high shipping costs. That $38 product you sell may now be $45. But I’d rather pay $48 for the product and only $5 in shipping than $38 for a product and $15 in shipping.
Just some food for thought. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
