I’m having the same problem with products not publishing to google, any solution found?
Topic summary
Custom products in Shopify show as “not published to Google” even after filling all Google fields. Items temporarily leave the error list, then reappear within minutes.
Findings/updates:
- Shopify support identified the recurring error as “You need to add a GTIN or MPN.” GTIN = Global Trade Item Number; MPN = Manufacturer Part Number.
- For custom products, this should only be a “Limited performance” warning.
- Products are actually approved and eligible for Google Ads in Google Merchant Center, where they appear as published.
- Shopify admin is incorrectly flagging them; issue acknowledged and forwarded to developers to fix the warning.
What to do now:
- Use Google Merchant Center as the source of truth for publish/approval status.
- If Merchant Center shows approved, no further action is needed despite the Shopify warning.
Open items:
- Another user reports the same symptom; guidance remains to rely on Merchant Center.
- Spocket-sourced products may lack GTINs, and saved product categories sometimes revert—potential sync/UI issues not yet resolved.
Status: Clarified, not fully resolved in Shopify UI; awaiting a fix for the incorrect admin warning.
