Just recently, we noticed that if we enter more than 10 items in the POS checkout cart, they will disappear but remain as part of the total of the cart. We really need to see the list of what’s in the cart, especially with larger orders and the nature of our shop. We often read back the order to customers to make sure we have quantities correct before checkout. What has happened???
Topic summary
Shopify POS (point‑of‑sale) carts only display the first 10 line items; additional items remain in the total but are not visible for review or editing. This disrupts order verification for larger sales.
Impact and symptoms: some report scanned items showing odd numbers (not SKU), missing images, and appearing tax‑exempt. Issue is intermittent for certain users, consistent for others.
Tried fixes: support advised updating the app/device, checking permissions, resetting account/Bluetooth/network, and reinstalling. Most report no lasting fix. Temporary workarounds include:
- Force‑closing and reopening the app (works for some, not all)
- Saving the cart, restarting the app, then reopening the saved cart
- Completing payment, printing the receipt, and correcting with an additional transaction if needed
Support status: acknowledged and “being worked on,” with no firm timeline previously. Guidance to avoid more than 10 items per sale drew criticism.
Latest update: one user states version 8.17 resolved it for them; others still affected. Suggested next steps: update to 8.17 and open a support ticket if the problem persists. Overall status: partially resolved/ongoing.
Hi Bitty,
I would also like to know the solution to this problem. Following for results.
I also have this issue.
I had a chat with Shopify Support and they suggested resetting, uninstalling and reinstalling our Shopify POS app. Did all that and the problem persists as well as a new thing where it shows a scanned item with some weird number that is not the SKU and there is no picture and it show as a tax empt item. So don’t try that advice because it doesn’t help and added a new problem! I’m about to get back on the chat and see what the next solution is.
Thank you for the update! Good luck
I am having the same issue
Same issue here. Just noticed it today.
I am also having this issue. Force-closing the app seems to temporarily resolve the issue.
Anymore news on this problem ? we are having it too
Shopify is working on it but it’s not resolved yet.
None of the shopify support suggestions have worked for us. Holding out hope the next update is supposed to fix the problem, which is what we have been told.
thanks , we will have to wait
Having the same problem, following for fix. We have been force closing POS which is a temporary fix.
This has been happening to some of our users as well. Of course its not consistent and I had a hard time recreating it. But once I did I found that closing the app and reopening it seems to fix it, like others have said that is only a temporary fix though. I told my staff to save the cart, close and reopen the app, view the saved cart and then all of the items should show. What a pain though!
Wow! Looks like it’s been at least 3 weeks and they still haven’t fixed it. I just called about this issue today and was told they hope to fix it “soon”. No specific timeline given. She couldn’t (wouldn’t) even tell me how long they have been working on it. We sell a lot of back to school items in our store so it’s our busiest time of year and we often have large sales of more than 10 items. If you can believe it…I was told to try not to have more than 10 items per sale, lol! Oh, sorry, you can’t buy anything else, you’ve reached your limit. WTF!?
They told me this is supposed to be fixed in the next update, however this is not stopping you from selling more than 10 items. It just doesn’t allow you to scroll through and see/edit them. Also, closing the app should fix the issue for you temporarily.
So utterly annoying! We have not been able to fix the problem in any way. Even closing the app and reopening doesn’t work. When we have a sale with more than 10 items, we cross our fingers, proceed with payment and then print a receipt and review the order with the customer. If there’s something missing, we then do another transaction. Not ideal on a busy day…
Also seeing this… Pretty big problem for a store that sells individual pens and pencils…
i am having the same issue. Following for results
I have the same issue as well. Not very response to the needs of the community are they ?
