Why are only Paypal payments showing in my store checkout?

Hey

I’ve recently been testing checkouts on my store. I’ve noticed that the only options I have are to Pay via Paypal. The footer of all my pages shows the payment options I added via the the additional payment options (Visa, Mastercard etc).
Would anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, Jake

Hey there, @Jake_M . Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community with your gateway question. It’s good to meet you!

I do have a few questions I’d like to ask you before we can dive in a bit deeper into this:

  • Can you provide me with a link to your store so I can see this functionality for myself? I’d just like to make sure I can replicate this lack of payment methods.
  • Can you tell me where your store is operating out of? Is your business operating out of the U.S, or somewhere else?
  • Are you using Shopify Payments in your store, or a third party payment gateway?

Please, get back to me when you can with the requested information! We’ll be able to dig in and see what’s going on once I have some of that additional information. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for your reply!

Hey @Imogen_1

Haven’t got a reply back yet, just checking in

Thanks, Jake

Hey there, @Jake_M . Apologies for the delayed reply. I’ve been out of office for the past few weeks, but I’m around today, and doing my best to catch up with all the folks I’ve missed since I’ve been gone.

I took a few minutes to create a cart for your store, and navigated to your checkout with a test U.K address. Like you, I only see PayPal set up to process payments currently. This tells me that you don’t have a payment gateway set up to capture payments, other than the PayPal gateway. If you’re wanting to offer payment capture via credit cards outside of PayPal in your checkout, you’ll need to set up a gateway that supports this.

Thankfully, Shopify Payments does offer payment capture for all major methods of payment, so once you have that set up, your checkout will automatically offer those options to customers. Just because you add payment icons to your footer, doesn’t mean that your checkout features those capture methods; you need to set up a payment gateway in order to collect those payments via those methods.

Your next step here should be to set up Shopify Payments, and then test your checkout to see what methods of payment appear. You can follow up with me here once you’ve done that, and I can make another test cart and confirm what methods are available. If you need some assistance with setting Shopify Payments up, you can refer to this document.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hi there, @sebnie . Thanks for following up on this thread. It’s good to meet you!

I’m sorry to hear about these issues that you’ve been experiencing with your payment gateways. I’m happy to do what I can here to provide you with some support with your issue.

I just have a few questions so I can better assist you:

  • Do you remember how/when you set up Shopify Payments in your store?
  • What country are you operating your store out of?
  • Can you provide me with a link to your store so I can see what payment options are appearing in your checkout currently?

Please, follow up with me when you can so we can keep digging into this with you.
