While certain products are restricted by Shopify Payments, it’s possible that some brands have specific agreements or exemptions that allow them to sell particular things. I would advise contacting Shopify support directly if you would need further information on this. They will have specific information on these incidents to share with you.
Hello @emilymyers did you ever get a direct answer from Shopify regarding this? It seems we are in a similar predicament and Shopify has told us that this rule applies to all US based Merchants and that there are no exceptions for anyone.
However, Olly, who operates out of San Francisco, still consistently sells products like this without removal on Shopify and utilizing Shopify Payments to this day.
I feel this is grossly unethical and unfair to merchants especially when Shopify admits that there is nothing in the product (from an ingredients standpoint) that would restrict the product in any way. We have been using Shopify for over 10 years now and give Shopify Payments a sizable revenue from transactions, yet here we are looking at payment processors for something that is clearly not universal to everyone despite them lying to our faces.
I hope @Imogen_1@Maz or @StephensWorld can assist us in finding out the truth regarding this seemingly one-sided restriction.
@RMoses_1 Have you been able to find any information about this? I’ve been trying to track down the same answers, haven’t revisited the issue since last year, wondering if anything has changed!
