Why aren't all my products publishing to Google from Shopify?

Topic summary

Products in Shopify’s Google channel are failing to publish, showing banners like “1,001 products didn’t publish to Google” and item-level errors: “Gtin is required for this product.” GTIN (global trade item number) often equals UPC; MPN is the manufacturer part number. Some merchants set MPN equal to UPC, but the issue persists.

Recent observations:

  • Began in the past few weeks; affects large catalogs (e.g., 1,800+ items).
  • Temporary workaround suggested: add a trailing space after the UPC. It may briefly clear the error but reverts within minutes.
  • Shopify support advised toggling the “custom product” field to false; this also appeared to help briefly before errors returned.

Context and impact:

  • Multiple stores report the same behavior, suggesting a Shopify-side problem with Google listings validation.
  • Merchants have contacted support repeatedly; responses have been inconsistent, and no confirmed fix has been provided.

Status:

  • No resolution or concrete outcome. Workarounds are unstable and revert.
  • Thread remains open; users seek a reliable fix and confirmation from Shopify on the root cause and a permanent solution.

Hi,
Please help me slove this issue.
I have added listed 1000s of products on Shopify to Google. I have filled all the required field in Google listings. Most of items are successfully published to Google. But still, I see a notification on Shopify homepage “1,001 products didn’t publish to Google”. I check such products one by one they are also filled completely, but still not published.
Please tell me how to fix this error and how to publish these products?
PS: I am considering MPN same as UPC.

Hi @storesbyhaider

This is commonly available issue currently showing on stores in recent times.

This issue mainly due to MPN or UPC

I know you’ve already filled the UPC field but try the SPACE just after the UPC.
For ex. “324375647365” is the UPC so you have to add the space just after "324375647365 " .

It will solve your issue.
Still waiting Shopify to address this issue.

Our store is doing the same thing and I have reached out to Shopify multiple times without a resolution so far. The last person stopped responding to me. I’ve talked to three different people and I told them that everything was working up until the past few weeks and now the banner keeps saying over 1000 items did not publish to Google. When I go to the individual items, it says the GTIN is required. These items have UPC codes already on each item page and putting that into the MPN field does not always resolve the issue. The lack of assistance from Shopify is frustrating.

I tried this with approximately 10 items in our store and it appeared to fix it, but after checking the items 5-10 minutes later, they all received the same Google publishing error again and the SPACE after the UPC was no longer there.

The error on the individual product pages is “Gtin is required for this product.” Shopify support chat said to edit the Shopify custom product field to false - did that for all of our products - which seemed to have fixed the issue, but within 30 minutes, the products had the same issue. We have 1800+ items on our online store and we’ve had our online store for over 2 years now. This issue popped up within the past month and we have yet to find a fix despite contacting Shopify support for the past 10 days regarding this issue. Not sure what else we can do - seems to be a Shopify side issue and Shopify doesn’t want to admit it is something on their end. The last Shopify support person stopped responding to me when I asked them to have the tech team look at the issue and get back to me with a resolution.

Does anyone have a solution to this that actually works?

Is there a solution to this problem with products not publishing on google?
