Why aren't customers buying from my website?

People will show up to our website and even check out a few products but never buy anything. Where am I going wrong, I’ve tried several versions of the website but all have the same result. Any help or honest feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are some bullet points that I hope everyone can help with. Here’s the site link https://pridees.lgbt/

  • Is the website visually appealing and easy to navigate?
  • Are the product descriptions clear and informative?
  • Is the pricing competitive compared to other similar products in the market?
  • Are there any specific features or functionality that are missing from the website?
  • Is there anything that would make you hesitant to make a purchase from this website?

Addressing your points one-by-one:

- Appealing and easy to navigate

– I feel as if your homepage has a lot of sections, and it gets a bit overwhelming as I scroll down. Maybe only showcase your top products first, and then have a “See more” CTA afterwards to showcase the rest. Bonus points is that, if you track it correctly, you will see how many people will be clicking on this “See more” button.

- Are the product descriptions clear and informative?

– Somewhat. Since you are selling clothes, a lot of questions will revolve around size guides. I would address that in some sort of FAQ, ideally a visual one.

- Is the pricing competitive compared to other similar products in the market?

– Can’t comment on that because I don’t know.

- Are there any specific features or functionality that are missing from the website?

– Some sort of livechat or FAQ would probably benefit you here. Since people are landing, but not buying, it’s highly likely that they are leaving out of some questions they might have. Starting to uncover what those questions are is key.

- Is there anything that would make you hesitant to make a purchase from this website?

– It’s a complicated situation to sell LGBT apparel, I think. Unless you have a clear story and/or a strong why, people might think you are just being opportunistic. From my point of view I think you are being genuine, but I would address that through a more developed “About Us” section, or a question in a FAQ answered through a genuine video telling a personal story as to why you sell this.

Hopefully that was helpful!

Hi @Pridees ,

This is Richard - CRO Expert at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

Your store looks stunning and professional, and I can tell you’ve put in a lot of effort. I love how your products are neat, and you have a hover effect where necessary (for product media, buttons). The styling of the page is visually attractive.

I understand that experiencing low conversion rates can be frustrating. From my CRO expertise, I’d love to give you my suggestions as hereby:

I. HOMEPAGE

1. Create a hero banner

This is the section of a webpage located between the navigation and the main content. Although typically displayed as an image, the hero banner area can take on various forms.

Its purpose is to introduce the page and provide users with an initial impression of the content to come. The contents of the hero banner area should guide users towards the remaining content on the page. Having a hero banner can make your page look more professional and attractive in terms of design.

This one is a perfect example:

2. Add ratings to your products

When customers browse your page, they will find star ratings useful. This lets them know what products are trending and getting positive feedback from similar buyers.

3. Showcase your featured product list

The homepage can showcase all the products available for sale, categorized into sections such as featured, recommended, and bestsellers. By presenting visually appealing images alongside the prices, the homepage can entice customers to continue scrolling and potentially purchase more than what they originally intended.

You are applying this technique, however, the home page looks more like a collection page rather than its definition. What you can do is to reduce the number of collections on your page, only showcase the most bought products, customers’ favorites, etc. to make room for other sections.

4. Add CTA buttons for products

When showcasing your products, you should not miss a chance to encourage your buyers to take actions. Therefore, adding a CTA button for each product will increase the chance of getting a deal. Add buttons below the prices and let your customers decide:

5. Showcase your Instagram or other social profiles

As usual, social media is one of the effective ways to get more traffic and make a good connection with your customers. Display social media such as Instagram and constantly update the feed.

6. Show your policies

Information on shipping and payment should be made clear from the first place. You should include this information below the hero banner. When the customers actively know your policies, they will be more likely to make purchases.

Take this one for example:

II. PRODUCT PAGE

1. Display minimum of 6 reviews by default, with the ability to load more

Users’ reviews are very important in online shopping. To increase conversion rate, it is advised that you have a review section where customers can read true reviews of your products. And you should display a minimum of 6 reviews by default. A too-short list of reviews prevents exploration and pattern detection.

2. Always allow buyers to submit product reviews

Buyers always value reviews as a “personal” recommendation from other buyers, relying on and trusting reviewers to essentially vouch for the quality of the product. When you leave space for your customers to leave reviews, the chance that your sales increase can be much higher.

Furthermore, you can consider using a page builder app with a Shopify theme made for this niche to enhance your store appearance and increase mobile experience for customers. You can check out the following themes Blum, Sense, Dawn…
