My shop contains food products like coffee and chocolates daily needs like that, How do i get MPN fro those items. Thats why every time there is a n error message like ‘products didn’t publish to Google’ please help me if anyone faced this already.

Pulling from our help document, you should be able to set the product as “custom products” if they do not have GTIN or MPN. I also found a similar community post here that says you can list these types of products as custom products.

From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Google.

On the Overview page, go to the Product feed section.

Beside a product status, click the link to view your synced products in a bulk editor.

Click Edit Google fields.

Optional: If your product doesn’t have a GTIN or MPN because it’s a custom product, then check This is a custom product.

Optional: In the Product categorization section, add a Google Product Category.

Optional: Add custom labels for Age, Gender, or Condition.

Click Save.
My products are still not publishing. I select that this is a custom product and also fill in the product category however it publishes for a moment and then reverts back.

Same here as far as the other subsequent posters. I’ve followed all the steps you’ve laid out – also selling handmade custom goods (jewelry for me) – and these identifiers still don’t seem to be enough. I’ve looked through lots of help guides and followed the instructions. Would love some more detailed instruction.

I have the same problem, I select that “This is a custom product” , it publishes for a moment and then reverts back. My products are still not publishing.

Hi Trevor, Thanks for the information,I’ve tried the steps you recommend, but sadly they don’t fix the problem. Can you recommend a different way of solving the issue as it’s really frustrating not having custom products not publishing on google. Thanks in advance

It would be best to contact Shopify Support directly if these instructions are not working for your store. They will have direct access to your account to look into the issue.

the same thing happened to my client’s shop. even though I do everything to fix it, it always reverts back. is there any permanent solution to this problem? direct and clear explanation for a permanent solution please.

Having the exact same problem and I am tired of this issue. I have completed all the relevant fields and still my products will not publish to Google permanently, they keep reverting back to being unpublished…

I had the same issue, but have had luck getting them to stick. Try this. Edit one of the Google fields, click save (the product will show as updated, but then will revert back to “unpublished” after a few minutes). After it reverts back, go back into the same product and edit a different Google field, then click save again. It should then stick. That’s what I’ve been doing and it has been working. It’s like you need to have two separate updating sessions on the SKU for it to work. Annoying, but it works.

Thanks EWB will give it a shot. Kind of a pain in a** when you have lots of products but not sure Shopify is even working on it.

Same. Very frustrating and can’t find a solution. 829 products not published ! Would love to hear if Spotify bother to sort this.
So, this has been an issue for a year, and still no solid resolution? I am having the same issue, and nothing works. It’s very frustrating when trying to tag products on IG as well because the ones that are not on google are not showing up on IG either.
Personally I think it’s a Shopify Glitch I sell antiques but for example listed a desk Google category all fine for months, list another desk almost identical & desk with identical Google category & it appears as can’t publish to Google or YouTube, YouTube? as if I even care about YouTube same example has happened tons of times, same with the upload Photo’s works when it likes to.
