I’m trying to add a metafield to my blog posts, but when attempting to save the metafield I get the following error:
To save this definition, 1 change needs to be made:
An unknown error occurred while attempting to create the metafield definition
Does anyone know what would cause this error? I’ve completed all fields and selected the type. I’m also not having any issues with adding metafields to products.

Hmm, I tried creating the exact metafield based on your screenshot and have no problem. Maybe a few things you can try:
Delete the metafield and try creating it again
Do you already have a blog with blog post? If not, create them.
Do you already have products? If not, add a few and try again.

Hello! I was having this exact problem and it turned out it was because I didn’t have permissions granted on my account for the “Discounts” section of Shopify. Not sure why, but that is required to be able to create Metafields for blogs, blog posts and pages. Now that I have that permission granted, the issue has resolved.
I just confirmed this on a dev store that I set up. @iyanna thank you so much for posting that solution, it worked perfectly!
