Why can't I edit the theme or add to cart on my online store?

When I try to edit in my online store it gives an error and I can’t see any information for the theme.

Whenever an error appears when you attempt to visit any page in your admin, I suggest going through local troubleshooting. These types of errors can be caused by something on your device or your surrounding circumstances and there’s a likelihood they can be fixed by local troubleshooting steps. The following can be done, and I suggest checking if the problem is resolved after performing each step.

  • Clear the cookies and cache of your browser. After this, completely reboot the browser.
  • Try a different web browser, as well as an incognito window or private browsing window to rule out any browser issues. When using incognito, if you are still experiencing the error, confirm you have disabled browser extensions as these can change how the pages look.
  • Ensure the web browser is up to date on the latest version.
  • Try another device, such as another computer or mobile phone.
  • Try another internet connection (switching to a cellular network on a phone rather than wifi, for example).
  • Try the Shopify Mobile app
  • Ensure you do not have any firewalls or pop-up blockers enabled on your device as these can interfere.

If the troubleshooting steps don’t fix the problem, I recommend checking the Shopify Status page as the next solution to ensure there are no known issues that are affecting the ability to access your admin.
