Why can't I load or print my shipping manifest?

Topic summary

Shipping Manifests app fails to load or print manifests across multiple platforms (iOS app, iOS Safari/Chrome, Windows Chrome, macOS Safari/Firefox/Chrome). One user could only get it working on macOS Chrome; reinstalling the app did not help, and in some cases it couldn’t be reinstalled.

Support initially suggested browser troubleshooting (incognito/private mode, clearing cache/cookies) and later acknowledged broader reports. They advised updating to at least iOS 15 and Chrome 96.0.4664.55, and contacting support for account-level investigation. Despite this, users report the problem persisting into 2024.

A specific failure path was identified: Orders → Shipping Labels → Pickups and Manifests → Create Manifest triggers the error (screenshot provided). A recent workaround: from the Orders page, use More actions → Create manifest, which launches the app correctly; the Shipping Labels path still fails (YMMV = “your mileage may vary”).

Outcome/status:

  • No confirmed fix; issue appears ongoing and intermittent.
  • Action items: update devices/browsers; use the Orders-page workaround; contact Shopify Support to escalate.

Context: The manifest is needed for carrier/post office scanning during pickups.

Thanks for joining this thread, @TCSChris .

For context, our team initially found that some merchants are running into the issue of not being able to open the Shipping Manifest app when using an iOS device. Later on, we also noticed the same issue occurring on desktop, via the Chrome browser in particular.

On iOS devices, the issue appears to be occurring from older versions of the iOS system, so users that are operating on anything older than version 15 seems to particularly be affected.

To troubleshoot, users will need to ensure that their devices and browsers are running on the latest possible functioning version. If you’ve updated your devices and browsers and are still experiencing the loading issue however, please get in touch with our live support team so that we can log this issue in with our internal technical teams in order for us to investigate in more detail from our end.
