Why can't I log into my ecommerce account?

When I try to log into my account, I click the next button and it downloads a file called “login” instead of logging me in?

I’ve tried on Safari, Chrome and Firefox - all having the same issue???

I’ve never heard of that occurring before. Are you certain you’re logging in through Shopify.com?

I’m getting exactly the same issue in Safari 14.1.1. Any links to Shopify admin download as a file rather than open in the browser.

Hi, Can you add any screenshot ? Did you clear your browser cache and cookies ?

Thank you for reporting this. Could you clarify what URL you see when you are trying to log in? Do you start at Shopify.com, or do you access the login through another method (i.e. email link, saved URL, etc).

There was an issue with my pc and I fixed it with that way. Some time I restart pc and it gets fixed.

When I try to log in it is going to downloads?

Are you using a Mac & Safari by chance? If yes, Apple has a forum post here that should help with this.

I have the exact same thing happening to me. When I try to login to my shopify account, a pop-up appears of the save file option. The file is called - LOGIN and if I hit cancel, it keeps popping up. I have tried to save it, and it does nothing as well. Keep happening despite trying to restart my computer and all applications.

  • What browser is this happening on?
  • Have you tried other browsers?
  • Is the operating system on your device up to date?
  • Are your browsers up to date?
  • Have you tried Google Chrome Incognito mode?

I have the same problem since today afternoon. I’m using MacBook and Safari and it happened all of a sudden. I was able to log in earlier today and after a 15min noon break I cannot log in anymore. It just repeats download a file named “login”. After that I have cleared all caches, update the system and restart the computer. But it didn’t help.

But luckily I can log in with Chrome, both in normal and incognito mode.
