Why can't I modify the color scheme in the Brooklyn theme?

Hello for the Brooklyn theme, it does not give me the option to change colors for my footer background, or text. Same goes for basically every other section. I am only able to change background and text for my header & announcement bar. Why can’t I change color for any other section? Please help me. I am on Brooklyn 17.7.0

Hi @LifeHackG

I can see that they have not added any JSON schema for changing the footer background.

You can easily add this with CSS

Go to assets/theme.scss.liquid and add this code at the end of the page.

.site-footer.small–text-center {
background-color: #000000;
}

Change the HEX values to what you want.

Hi, @LifeHackG .

Thanks for your message, as @collinsmbaka mentioned, there currently is only one way to natively change the footer colour in your theme settings. You would need to head to Online store>Themes>Customize>Theme Settings>Color and change the “Background” colour tab to whatever colour you want. Now, that said this will change all backgrounds and not just your footer like this:

While you could certainly try that coding example @collinsmbaka shared if you wish, if you are uncomfortable with coding you could always reach out to our live support team as this may be something our themes team can help you out with directly. While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit our Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request. Once you reach a live advisor and explain your request, assuming you have design time available, they will be able to check with our themes team if this is something they can customize for you.

I hope this additional information helps you out should you need it, please feel free to reach back out here with any questions you may have!
