Why can't I verify my phone number on Google Merchant Center?

Hello Everyone,

I have this problem setting up the google account in my Shopify store after I set up my google merchant center it doesn’t allow me to check my phone number, check the screenshot below.

Even tho I try to confirm it just doesn’t return any txt back can anyone help me out?

Happy to help out here. When you click the ‘get code’ button what happens? Is this window popping up?

Are you seeing an error such as ‘Too many attempts. Please try again in 4 hours, or use a different phone number’? Also, can you confirm that the phone number you’ve added in the Google Channel matches the phone number in your Settings > Store details?

Yes, the window pops and I put my phone number, then wait a few minutes and no reply, after a few tries he shows me that message “please, try again in 4 hours”

I’ve tried everything, I already set up my merchant center account with my phone number and was all good but when I try to verify here it just doesn’t send me the message to confirm.

I also tried with my girlfriend’s phone number and no reply also.

I’m going for 3 months with this error so I just don’t know what more to do.

I recommend you verify your phone number natively in Google Merchant Center, not with a 3rd party.

Go to Google Merchant Center > top right corner > gear icon > business information

Below the address here you can verify your phone number.

Thanks for your advice, but I already did that and I got it to verify on google merchant, my problem is here I cannot finish the set up because of it… like I said I already tried everything so I don’t know what more to do

Hello Rogros, I assumed the phone verification in Shopify was the same as Google Merchant Center. Due to it being in the free shopping app.

Then clearly the issue is with Shopify and this phone verification has nothing to do with Google. I recommend you contact Shopify support.

I have seen other posts report this exact same issue.

Hi Rogros,

did you manage to solve the issue? i am having the same issue with my phone and domain :/. According to google, it has been verified but in my Shopify store it is still flagged and not verified :disappointed_face:

Hi there,

same problem here. Can’t verify my phone number. Error says “An unknown error occurred. Try again later, or contact support.”

Did anyone find a fix for this? Or the cause?
