Why did my conversion rate drop drastically despite increased traffic?

Hi,

I’ve been running a store for a few months now. It went pretty well: I was making sales with a conversion rate of about 2%. The last few days, since April 30th, the traffic increased massively, because of a video of an affiliate blowing up. I had nearly 5.000 visitors in a day but I had almost no sales. The conversion rate of that day was 0.04% (!!). Just a week before this I had a few days with around €300 in sales with just 500/600 visitors. The traffic from that came from the same source, TikTok.

I’ve placed a few test orders to check if anything isn’t running properly, but I’ve found nothing. I also haven’t made any changes to my website in the last few weeks. There also isn’t many abandoned checkouts. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
