Why do I have 'en-ie' versions of my webpage URLs and how to handle them?

Hi all,

I have several ‘en-ie’ URLs versions of my pages, but not sure what they are or how they have come about? I assume it stands for Ireland. But my shop is UK based.

For example, this is a collections page I have, with two URLs:

The main URL: https://thebespokesignhouse.com/collections/house-signs

This secondary URL which I am not sure where it came from: https://thebespokesignhouse.com/en-ie/collections/house-signs

Is this ‘en-ie’ URL necessary? Do I need to do a redirect to the actual URL, or somehow add a canonical tag? If so, how do I do this…

Any help is appreciated!

Hello @KrisG2

It seems that your store redirects customers to the regional version of your store. It is a well know fact that shoppers trust stores in their native language. Redirecting visitors to the correct version of your store can greatly improve conversions.

However, if you don’t want to redirect, check your apps list for any Location related apps or check your theme for any code used to redirect.

I hope the above is useful to you.
