Why do I have two different URLs for the same Collection?

Topic summary

Issue: Two URLs pointed to the same collection. /collections/journals showed all 5 products; /collections/journals/books showed only 4.

Diagnosis: The “/books” variant wasn’t a separate collection but a tag-filtered view of the Journals collection (Shopify uses /collections/{collection}/{tag} to filter by tag). The extra URL came from a navigation link that included the “books” tag.

Guidance given:

  • Initial suggestion to delete a collection (Products > Collections) was not applicable.
  • Correct approach: Check Online Store > Navigation, edit the Journals menu item, and remove the “books” part from the link so it points only to /collections/journals.

Artifacts: Screenshots were shared to show where in navigation to edit the link.

Outcome: After removing “books” from the Journals menu item link, the unwanted URL was effectively removed, leaving only the desired collection URL.

Status: Resolved; the original poster confirmed the fix worked.

Hello,

I have two URLs for the same Collection, somehow.

*** One shows all 5 products that I have listed in that collection so far >> CosmicSerenityShop.com/collections/journals

xxx The other only shows 4 out of the 5 >> CosmicSerenityShop.com/collections/journals/books

*** Obviously, I want to keep the collections/journals option.

xxx I want to get rid of the collections/journals/books but cannot find where that is to delete it.

Can you help, please?

Hi @JeanneM13
It looks like you added it in navigation

Go to the navigation and check for this link, books is a tag on this collection
This is not a separate collection, so just remove books from navigation and then it will work fine
Thanks!
