Why do my product images disappear on desktop but not mobile?

I’m having the issue where product images appear for a second, then disappear (all but a couple) on desktop. When you refresh they flash again.

But they all seem to show up on mobile.

I’ve seen several solutions for the inverse problem (images not showing up on mobile) and I tried adding in the snippet of code suggested by @KetanKumar in this solution:

but nothing seems to work.

Hi Anne,

The product images all appear correctly for me (Chrome 96.0.4664.45, Windows 10). Have you tried simple fixes like clearing your cache or getting someone else who’s not on your Internet connection to check the product pages?

Please remove added your code and check your shop if not solved problem please restore your old backup of your theme.

I cleared the cache on the three browsers I tried (Chrome Version 96.0.4664.55, Safari Version 15.0, Firefox 94.0.2) and switched wifi networks, and the images are still flashing and disappearing.

I’ll check again from studio wifi.

Question: if it is one of these simple fixes, does that mean that this could happen to a customer who doesn’t clear their cache between visits to my store?

This issue was happening the snippets I’ve added. In fact, I think it’s been happening since the site was developed in the spring, but I didn’t notice.

I only noticed it now because I was adding new product images.

I’ve removed the snippets now and it’s still happening.

Is there any way to fix by adding a snippet instead of reverting? Because there is no earlier version of the theme than the one done in the spring.
