We are having a weird caching issue where users can check out in incognito mode with a 100% Discount code but not in a live window session. In a live window users get a spinning wheel as seen in the screenshots below.
AS a follow to add more clarity: Beginning the week of March 7th (when shopify had a major outage), we began to hearing from our customers that they could not complete checkout. We lost 300 attempted orders on March 9th when the site could not process orders. Customers described the problem as a constant “spinning wheel” at shipping or “complete order.” But we still receive orders and have difficulty replicating the problem consistently.
We have since had hundreds of abandoned checkouts. We have had countless customers reach out complaining that they can’t complete their checkouts. We have spoken to several shopify customer support personnel and determined the issue to be with:
- Caching (though clearing our cache and the website’s cache hasn’t fixed the issue)
- We wonder if the issue is with the 100% off discount code
- We wonder if the issue is with shopify trying to generate shipping rates
- We suspect that one of the apps we installed and uninstalled may have left a residue of code that is creating inconsistencies in user experiences.
