Why does copying multiple lines of code result in a dash character?

When I’m copying part of code in the code editor, for example 15+ rows, using ctr+c or right click->copy, in both cases it does not copy at all and afterwards pastes as a dash character “-”.

If I copy less rows for example 5 or less, it works.

What could be the reason, is it a problem with the theme itself?

I don’t think it’s theme problem, have you tried other themes like Dawn theme?

It might be a bug about Shopify backend.
