Why does it take so long for funds to be released? I’m using Printify with my account, and once I receive a payment, it’s on hold for a whole week. I would like to use some of the funds to pay Printify to begin production on products, cutting down the wait time for customers.

Shopify holds it for a window where disputes or chargebacks might be filed. For most new accounts, that’s around 7 days. It protects you too, not just the buyer.
After a few weeks of selling, Shopify will reevaluate the 7 day logic, and may move you to a quicker settlement time depending on your stores geography and selling patterns. You can find those times here in our docs.
