Why does my new domain name cause a 404 error?

After I bought a new domain name for my website, it suddenly won’t open. It shows 404 error. What is the situation, please?

Is this a Third - Party domain or did you purchase this domain directly from Shopify?

Are you able to check your DNS settings and ensure that it matches the following please -

  • Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  • If necessary, change the Host name to the [email removed] symbol.
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.
