I am a startup and trying to build my store. I have used the bot/assistant and saved everything including my home page, navigation buttons, banner, logo and it’s disappeared multiple times. Finally got it fixed even though the logo moved somewhat. I selected products to add and yesterday worked on them for verbiage/pricing with the bot. I spent hours and hours doing this and today they are gone. This has happened multiple times. I am so frustrated and ready to give up! I initially named the store one thing and then changed it. Would this have anything to do with it? Any help is appreciated! TY!
@Davana - Using AI… you have to spend time and need to understand the smart prompting… recommend to add a separate section manually along with the bot/assistant.
@Davana Could you clarify on what you mean by they are gone. Are the products still visible/accessible from the admin side? If so, double check the publication settings and status.
Thanks for replying, Robert! It is not the publication settings/status. I entered around 50 products yesterday, tweaked verbiage and pricing with a bot. Saved every one of them and now they are no longer there. I have not gone “live” with my store yet. Even when I did the home page banner, nav buttons and logo, that all disappeared after being “saved.” It was there for a day and then poof, gone! Do you know if there is an agent I can actually speak with about this? The chat bots are getting old and not helpful at all. TY!
@Davana Try adding a fresh/clean copy of Horizon or Dawn theme to your store. Preview it from Online Store > Themes > Draft themes > … > Preview. Do you see your products? If so, the issue is theme related. Could be a missing section, configuration related, or a bug from the edits you were working on.
There are tons and tons of YouTube tutorials at your disposal. Just follow step by step.
Use the theme editor to do what you want. There are pages, templates, sections, blocks, connecting your collections, etc. Settings galore.
At this early of stage there is zero reason to use any ai assistant or chat. It’s all right there on screen.
Go to theme editor. Go into the Theme Settings. Upload image for logo. Select header. View and adjust settings. Add product. Name product. Upload an image. Give it a price. Save. Go to Settings. Set up your Location. Save. Set up shipping profile. Save.
It’s all relatively easy and should not require any assistance to begin.
Robert, thank you so much! I finally figured it out and am currently building my store. I appreciate YOU!
Hey there @Davana
That certainly is not anticipated behavior, and a change to your store name wouldn’t usually lead to products, content, navigation, or theme settings to be wiped away.
There are a couple things to look for things like this to happen: perhaps you were working on a duplicate theme instead of your published theme, maybe multiple staff accounts have been editing the store or content was pasted in but you left the editor without saving.
You can also check on your theme versions and recent activity to find out when changes were made. From now on, it’s a good idea to duplicate your theme before you make major changes so you’ll always have a backup you can revert to if you lose something.
Hi @Davana
That definitely sounds frustrating, especially after spending hours setting everything up.
A store name change typically shouldn’t cause products, content, navigation, or theme settings to disappear. It may be worth checking whether changes were made on a different theme version, unpublished theme, or if there were any app/theme conflicts.
Going forward, I’d strongly recommend keeping regular backups of your store data and theme settings. That way, if something unexpected happens, you can restore products, pages, themes, files, and other store content without having to rebuild everything from scratch.
We’ve seen many merchants use Syncora: Backup & Restore for this exact reason—it automatically backs up store data and makes recovery much easier when accidental changes or data loss occur.
Hopefully you’re able to identify what caused the issue and get everything restored. Good luck with your store!
