Why does payment delay lead to total store access cut-off?

I think Its time I leave Shopify. I never understood their purpose of cutting a admin completely out of their store when a payment is due. I can understand fully, cutting off access to public for shopping. But there are times when sellers fall on hard times can’t afford to pay their threshold fees at the moment, but why cut off bacon access.

There are things I need to access on backend like maybe still lookup a customers order, maybe a refund or anything for that matter and they literally cut off all access.

Today, I’m leaving and going to Wix. When I had any issue making a payment, at least I don’t have to worry about my store being cut off completely from ME being to access the backend.

After a VERY long year…Good Riddance,

That certainly sounds completely unacceptable. I wouldn’t know, for example, if a card had expired and bounces a payment since I am way way too busy to be omniscient - and to learn that Shopify may block the entire store over a missed payment is unacceptable. It takes enormous amount of time to put together a store because many of the features, quite frankly, are outdated and do not offer quicker product editing solutions.
You are right, they should allow admin access.
