Why does PayPal error message appear during test purchases?

I recently made my store and when i try to test purchase this messege always appears to me even when i try from different devices , what to do ?

  • Can you walk me through how you are testing this payment? Are you following these steps here and attempting the purchase of a test product using a different PayPal account than the one set up to receive payments on your store?
  • Did you follow these steps here to complete your PayPal set up?
  • When you go to Settings > Payments in your Shopify Admin are you seeing any error messages or banners explaining any issues with your PayPal account?
  • If you go Orders > Abandoned checkouts in your Shopify Admin do you see any abandoned checkouts created for the orders you’ve attempted? If so, if you click on a specific abandoned checkout you may be able to find more information on the payment attempt following these steps.

Yes i have tried from different devices that are not connected to the same paypal account but i dont even have the chance to use another paypal account before this msg appears

  • If you go Orders > Abandoned checkouts in your Shopify Admin do you see any abandoned checkouts created for the orders you’ve attempted? yes If so, if you click on a specific abandoned checkout you may be able to find more information on the payment attempt following these step
  • only shipping information and email status is not send and recovery status is not recovered

Based on your answers everything sounds set up correctly. In this situation I would recommend contacting our support team from this page. I’m not able to access any of your account details over the Community, but one of our Support Advisors would be able to take a closer look at your settings to see why PayPal may be unavailable at the moment. You can reach them following the steps below. You can also share the link to this thread to explain what troubleshooting steps we’ve done so far.

If they’re unable to notice anything in your settings it would then be best to speak with PayPal directly. They should have more information on why this error message is appearing. If you need to contact PayPal you can reach them through this page here.
