Why Does Shopify Allow Fraudulent Transactions?

Why does Shopify allow fraudulent transactions to be placed?

Have selected to transactions with no CVV or unmatched zip codes postal codes to be rejected in payment settings. Yet, Shopify still allows orders to be placed that CVV is not entered or incorrect and/or the postal zip code is entered and does not match the credit card.

Shopify makes money off allowing these fraudulent transactions when placed. Not recovered

Furthermore, Shopify makes money when transactions are later rejected. Also, not recovered.

Why is shopify allowing transactions I have selected to have rejected?

Very concerning!

The same reason ebay allows fake items to be sold: Because they don’t care. They’re getting paid, so they do the bare minimum to stop bad actors from ripping people off so that they can make fake concerned statements, “Here at Shopify we take fraudulent transactions seriously”. No they don’t. They don’t care at all. They rip off their own customers every day by intentionally leaving basic functionality out of their platform so they can resell it to you as an “app” with a monthly fee in their bleep app market store. Shopify is a borderline scam.

Hi @AvengerSecurity

Thank you for reaching out about this and sharing your feedback. I recognize your concerns and I am happy to address them and share some more information on why these orders came through.

It’s important to know that while you can enable the AVS/CVV security check, not all banks support this feature. Once enabled, AVS and CVV fraud filters apply only to orders where the customer’s card-issuing bank supports these checks, and will not appear as a “risk indicator” in the risk analysis tool in situations where the security checks are not supported. This information is also noted in our Help Center: Shopify Help Center | Configuring Shopify Payments.

If you are concerned about fraudulent orders coming through your store then I recommend setting up payment capture, so that you can review payments and finalize them yourself. This avoids any processing fees for orders that you cancel.

Your statement is not true, further supports Shopify not regulating as requested in settings. This is Shopify being fraudulent and very deceptive.

“It’s important to know that while you can enable the AVS/CVV security check, not all banks support this feature.” - Not True, and why does this matter if I have rejected these tranactions, would these same rules not apply to a bank,

So because it is a bank, you allow the bank to make fruadulent transactions.?

If the CVV and the AVS was a requirement that it should reject any transactions without a CVV or AVS, have slected to reject any and all transacations that don’t verify CVV or AVS. Shopify should not offer this security check, if Shopify has no intentions of enforcement.

Why would you give this option but then not enforce as requested.

This is tortuous interference with contractual obligation, very deceptive trade - This is fraud on behalf of Shopify.

Shopify will have a class action lawsuit filed on this matter.
