Why does the 'Personalize Design' button grey out on different sizes?

Im using Shopify Dawn theme with Printful to customize products and when I go the product I want to customize ( a t-shirt) I see the Personalize Design button on the product page but when I change the size to a different size the button gets grey out and I can no longer customize the product? The only way to see the Personalize Design button again is to refresh the page but then after doing so if I toggle to another size the button gets greyed out again and I cannot click it. Thanks. Can you please advise what exactly we need to add to the product.liquid file to fix this issue and where within that file we need to make those changes. Also, are you referring to the main-product.liquid file because that is the only file I see for the Dawn theme. I do not see a file called product.liquid. Thanks very much in advance.

Hi, I stumbled across your post, and was having the same issue while building my website. I think I figured out a short term workaround and wanted to share. Go into the product pages on the theme designer. Change the variant selector from “Pills” to “dropdown”. I tried it on a couple of the different themes, and it seems to be working. Just make sure that you change all of the different product page templates that you have. I had 3 different product templates and it needs to be done on each one.

Thanks @kygrads for your suggestion but I am still having the same issue after following what you you suggested. Were you able to successfully fix this issue for the Dawn theme? That’s the theme that I am using.

I tried it but it didn’t work for me either. Still grays out.

Hey everybody i apologize for the false positive.

It stopped working for me. I think it was my browser cookies. I was able to get it working for a short period of time. But then naturally I clicked to add it to the cart, and it pops up with an error message. I’ll keep you all posted if I stumble across a solution. I’ve emailed printful since it seems like its a coding issue with their plugin.

Hey Russ-Stya! I took a little break on trying to figure this out and was manually doing the personalization. I run a graduation company, so the fall is kind of my testing time. I came back and started playing with it again, and i’m hoping I may have figured it out. I currently have the variant product options app from relentless also installed on my store. I came across the article linked below that has information on issues with the main image changing. When I changed the setting and turned it off, refreshed my web page and then created a test product. I’m not sure if maybe there is a coding issue with the apps when they cross in the store code. Let me know if the custom shirt from the link I also attached is working on your alls end. I’ve got it put into one of the school collections I haven’t started sending marketing information out too yet.

If you have another variant app, it could be a similar setting causing the issue.

Also, even though my store has the look of a different theme, I used the dawn theme and just changed some of the colors and graphic locations. I found that I got the look i was going for, with the compatibility of most of the plugins built for the dawn theme.

I too am having this same issue with every Shopify Free Theme. I am integrating with Printful and use Printful for personalization which then adds the code to my shopify store. I’m not certain how to fix this and Shopify nor Printful support have been any help. Have you been able to fix this?
