Why doesn't Shopify have a Min/Max feature?

An amazing feature missing from Shopify that would make keeping track of inventory so much easier, is a Min/Max feature, it’s a very common feature in other POS systems, and I’d love to see it implemented on Shopify, used it almost everyday in my old purchasing job with the POS system they have.

It would be so nice to bring ten of an item, set a min of 3 and a max of 10. Then I can run a Min/Max report by supplier once a week to check my inventory levels, and add items at the Min stock level to a Purchase orders and bring my inventory up to the max levels I set. Right now we can only set it to show least to most, it’s a terrible system causing way more work than needed, when something as simple as a min/max could be added.

Right now trying to keep track of over 1500 part numbers and their inventory levels is a huge pain in the a$$ on this platform… we have already been talking about switching POS systems so we can get this function, which we would rather not do, but making my business run smoother is my top priority.

Hi There,

As you mentioned, Shopify doesn’t have a great amount of flexibility with inventory reporting.

Our Report Toaster app can help. You could create metafields on your products to represent the min/max inventory for each product. We could then pull those metafields and let you schedule schedule a weekly report with the min/max stock levels. Please feel free to have a look and we can help you get everything setup.

Thanks,
Sam

I’ll check it out and see how it goes.

We love shopify, our only complaint is how poor they have it set up to maintain inventory… like certain functions that come baked in on other POS systems suck as a min/max system, don’t exist here… and then you need to go through app after app after app trying to find something that does what you want.

I see this chat is over half a year old. Has there been any update in adding a min/max inventory feature to Shopify since then?

I don’t think so
