Why doesn't Shopify payments support Iceland?

Can someone explain why Shopify payments doesnt support Iceland?

There are many countries, where Shopify Payments aren’t available. It relates to a bunch of factors like:

  • The market opportunity for Shopify - Iceland being a relatively small market may not be a priority for Shopify
  • Agreements that have to be done between multiple providers - Shopify uses Stripe to power their payment solution. As you can see here - https://stripe.com/en-cz/global - Stripe doesn’t support Iceland just yet, so this may be a contributing aspect for Shopify Payments not being available in your country.

Hi, @Rollomyshop .

Welcome to the Shopify Community.

I understand how crucial it is to have access to Shopify Payments in Iceland. Although the service is currently unavailable, I have taken the initiative to forward your request to our development team to explore the possibility of integrating this payment gateway in Iceland. To stay informed about the latest updates to the Shopify platform, you can refer to the Shopify Changelog.

In the interim, you can browse through our list of payment gateways on our Iceland Payment Gateways resource. For convenience, I’ll highlight some of the options below to help you get started.

Lastly, I’d like to hear what you’re currently working on in your store. I’ll be happy to share tips and resources to help.

##- for those providers i need Merchant ID, Api key, VAT number,
registration number. Where can i get that to my store??-##

Thanks for your reply, @Rollomyshop .

To obtain your Merchant ID, you can create a support request via the Shopify Help Center so our internal team can look into this for you.

Could you share a bit more information on what payment gateways are requesting an API Key?

In regard to collecting a VAT, your VAT number is provided to you by a member country’s tax authority after you register with them. You can contact your local tax authority or a tax professional to find your VAT number. For your company registration number, I recommend reaching out to a government entity in your country as they are responsible for registering your company.
