Since I sell mostly auto parts, I use HS code 9966.00.00 for all of my USA-made products to since Canada does not charge duty on those items. However, the Shopify system does not recognize this tariff number. Is there any way around that?
Thanks!

Bumping this back up. Hopefully someone can help?
will this help?
Thank you for the reply. The issue is that the Shopify system does not recognize HS code 9966.00.00 so doesn’t allow it to be added. It gives the error message, “Incorrect HS code. Check the numbers and try again”.
Has this been solved? I need to do the same.
Sort of, but not completely. I don’t know if Shopify specifically changed anything or not, but I discovered that you can add HS code 9966.00.00 during the shipping label purchase process AS LONG AS THE PRODUCT DOES NOT HAVE ANOTHER HS CODE ASSIGNED TO IT, but you cannot add it when creating a new product or modifying an existing product.
For example, if you have a product that does not have any HS code assigned to it, you will be directed to edit the customs information to add an HS code during the shipping label purchase process. During this process, you can add and save HS code 9966.00.00 to that product. Doing it that way will add that HS code to that product, and the system will remember it for the future. However, if you ever need to edit that product’s description, tracking info, or anything else, or if you are creating a new product, Shopify will not recognize HS code 9966.00.00 and throws up an error while saving. The way around this is to simply exclude an HS code while saving, then add it in during the shipping label purchase where you can edit the customs info.
It’s a real hassle. I wish they would recognize HS code 9966.00.00 across the board. But at least there is a way around it.
