Thought I would never have to post/have a forum account.
Where is authorize.net? That’s the question I’m asking as well as others and also having an issue with. Used Shopify for 2 years and they randomly take this gateway off with no explanation unless you contact support. There also referring you to use “Bankful”. I’m not using bankful as I have my accounts already set up with Authorize.net. This is not right at all and needs to be fixed. I know this is hurting a lot of businesses if this becomes a permanent deactivation.
So for people wondering here are the support screenshots.

Hi, Shopify members and team,
It has come to my attention that Shopify has recently removed Authorize.net as an approved gateway for its merchants. This is very unfortunate as Authorize.net is the world’s largest payment gateway provider, and losing Authorize.net will hurt many Shopify merchants.
Unfortunately, Shopify has not provided a clear explanation for its decision, leaving our community feeling very vulnerable and betrayed by Shopify. Furthermore, Authorize.net only carries a 1% transaction fee versus their competitors, who have a much higher rate. As a result, we expect our revenue to be cut by at least 5% per year because of this decision.
We need Shopify to step up and either explain its decision or resolve this issue for its merchants.
As a high volume business owner it’s very concerning that Authorize.net has been removed from Shopify without explanation. For high-volume stores this is a huge impact, considering this platform is used very often for Merchants like myself. Authorize.net provides high security for many of us using it as a gateway here on Shopify, we hope to hear a good explanation or alternative to this payment processing gateway from Shopify.
As of now every day that goes by is a huge impact on our stores.
Same here. This is absurd, in my case the shopify support agent wasen’t even aware of this, after several minutes he “finded an internal note” regarding the removal of auth.net… no other information.
Hi PrivateSeller,
There are several other excellent Shopify-friendly payment gateways that work great! Two excellent solutions just don’t have the brand name recognition (yet).
- The preferred payment gateway (whose name I won’t promote) offers much better pricing compared to Authnet.
- More feature-rich tools such as a free Virtual Terminal, SMS text invoicing & email invoicing
- Apple Pay and Google Pay (included at no additional charge)
- eCheck-By Web and Plaid (which lets customers pay by logging into to their bank account while still on your website checkout page).
- Automated email receipts…and much more
No sign up fee. No application fee.
Pricing: $0.10 cents per transaction plus 0.60% on all gateway credit card and debit card volume. There are no monthly recurring fees for merchant generating $50.00 USD in monthly sales volume.
If you’re experiencing difficulty getting online with Authorize.net, just send me an email. I’ll reply with a link to the preferred payment gateway. We’re seeing new accounts get approved and activated on the same day or within 24 hours.
Happy Selling,
Kevin James
