why is there an extra amount added when I order something on shopify

I do apologize but I’m not quite sure what you are referring to. When ordering a product from a business you believe to be using Shopify, you should only be charged the amount you see at checkout. However, if your card is in a different currency than the store, that could be a reason you are seeing a slightly different charge.
Can you please elaborate on the charge you are seeing that you believe to be incorrect?
