Hi,
I have launched my website, RoraTek (roratek.com) and there was an error with apple pay. When a customer tried to pay, it showed up as an abandoned checkout and there was a message on the timeline that said “Unable to process payment for $439.99 using a Mastercard via apple pay”. There was another message that read: “Message- your card was declined.”
Is there any way to fix this?
Thank you in advance!

Hi, @RoraTek .
Welcome to the Shopify Community!
Thanks for sharing this context and the error message that appears in the payment timeline. To confirm, is the error message for Apple Pay appearing for multiple customers selecting this at checkout, or just this specific customer?
Additionally, I’d like to share some information and troubleshooting steps to ensure your customer(s) are able to use Apple Pay.
Apple Pay Information | Troubleshooting:
-
Could you advise your customer to try using a different card/payment method?
-
Does this issue happen using a different card through Apple Pay?
-
Customers and merchants will need to be on Safari on iOS 12.1 or higher or on macOS Mojave (10.14.1) or higher, and on an appropriate device, to be able to see Apple Pay buttons on the cart page. You can determine if it is configured properly in your iCloud web settings; an icon is displayed to signify it is ready.
-
Apple Pay will only work on Shopify’s web checkout. The native checkouts through Twitter and Facebook will not support Apple Pay.
-
Apple Pay will also not work with the Buy Button channel.
I’ll share our Apple Pay Resource for more information on the customer experience and other ways to accept Apple pay.
Lastly, I love how you’ve curated your website and set up your brand colours. I found it easy to navigate and learned more about your products. I would like to share a tip that I feel can help with branding. Did you know you can remove the powered-by-Shopify text from your storefront’s footer? You can find the steps located in our help center resource here.
