When I want to log in to my account on the site, respectively the same thing will happen to customers, I type my email and password and when I give “LOGIN” loads the home page of the site instead of loading my profile, respectively when I load my home page and click on the profile icon gives me that I am not in my account again I have to type my email and password. When I do it a few times it fixes itself and logs in. But overall there is a problem, it doesn’t work well. Can you advise me what to do?
Hi, @gogo3 . I’m happy to look into this with you! I just have a few questions to make sure I’m giving you helpful advice going forward.
- You’re trying to log in to a customer account on your online store, correct? Or are you also having trouble logging in to your Shopify admin?
- Are you using classic customer accounts or new customer accounts? If you’re not sure, you can find more information on both types of customer accounts here.
- When did this issue first start happening? For example, were you and your customers previously able to log in and see the profile page first, and without having to try it multiple times?
- Have you tried to log in using any other browsers or devices? If so, is it working correctly on any other devices or browsers?
I tested it out on my end and my customer accounts are working correctly. Once I have more information on what’s happening I can definitely review this with you further! Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.
Thanks so much for responding! I started noticing this problem once I started testing it, as I was doing the site design before and hadn’t been paying attention. The truth is that now I tried it through another browser and it works! But I have friends who tell me that it doesn’t work correctly and that it doesn’t work every time. When “forgot password” is clicked I don’t get an email to change the password, it loads a 404 blank page. What could be causing this?
I have one more question, if it is convenient of course. Any idea how I can add two collage sections next to each other? That is, as it stands right now, but my collage should now be moved a little to the left and I should put another mirrored one next to it.
Thank you very much!
Regards,
George
Hi, @gogo3 . To clarify, are you trying to log in to your Shopify admin using staff accounts or are you trying to log in to a customer account on your online store? It sounds like you are trying to log in to customer accounts, but I want to be sure. Also, which type of customer accounts are you using at the moment? Do you have classic customer accounts or new customer accounts enabled? The type of customer accounts you’re using can help determine what’s causing this. If you’re not sure you can double check by going to Settings > Customer accounts in your Shopify admin.
That being said, typically if something is working on some devices, but not others, the issue is often caused by something local to the device. That is, something relating to the browser, device or network being used. If it’s still not working on some devices, I recommend going through the following troubleshooting steps:
- Clear the cache and cookies on your web browser, then completely restart the browser.
- Ensure the web browser being used is up-to-date with the latest version.
- Ensure you’re using a browser that is supported by Shopify.
- Ensure the web browser’s cookie settings are enabled.
- Ensure that pop-ups are not being blocked on the web browser.
- Try deactivating any browser extensions or add-ons.
- Try another internet connection (for example, switching to a cellular network on a phone, rather than WiFi).
- Ensure there are no firewalls or VPNs enabled on the device or network. If using a VPN, try setting it to another location.
For your collage sections, this will depend on the theme you’re using since different themes have different sections and features. You can see the available customization options for your theme within your theme editor. You can get there by going to Online store > Themes > Customize (next to the theme you’re using). From here, you can browse through your customization settings. For example, you can click the Collage section to see if there’s a way to add more blocks or re-position how it’s displayed. You can read more about customizing themes here. If your theme editor doesn’t have an option to add two collage sections next to each other, or to adjust the position of the section, you can still do this by editing your theme code. If you’re not comfortable doing this on your own, I’d recommend hiring a Shopify expert to help. Shopify experts are trusted, third-party agencies and freelancers who offer services for Shopify merchants. You can hire a Shopify expert on this page and you can learn more about them here.
