Why is my Brooklyn theme slideshow and menu bar malfunctioning?

I didn’t make any changes to my website but saw that my slideshow had changed. It’s not showing the pictures as it used to and I can’t get it back to how it was. It used to show the picture cropped at the middle (Which would show the model’s midsection) Now it shows her shoulders (On PC) and full image on mobile. I tried to change the image position but it is still the same. It also doesn’t change slides when you click on the arrows and when I set it to automatically change nothing happens either. I have now deleted the whole block and tried to redo it but no buttons are showing up and the slides still aren’t changing.

I then noticed my menu bar has no writing on it (Can’t choose a page) but when you hover over where it used to be it shows there’s something there but nothing happens when you click on it (this only happens on the home page - the menu bar appears on all the other pages) All my text colours are set to black and my background is set to white so it should show.

I know very little about coding so I have not touched any of it. I find it strange that I woke up one day and all these problems started. Please help

Hi there, @EMSA . Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community with your theme situation that you have going on here. I’m happy to talk sometime to help you with getting things back to where they were before all of these changes happened.

Thanks for providing a link to your homepage! When I load up your website, I can see all of the menu items as expected. They’re using black text against a white background. I visited a few other pages on your site and the menu items are visible there, as well. Are you still not seeing the menu items on your end? If possible, can you provide me with a screenshot of what you’re seeing when you load your homescreen?

When it comes to your slideshow, when I load up your homescreen, the section that would be a slideshow appears to be set as a simple ‘hero image’, and is not currently set up as a slideshow. This would explain why the arrows do not appear to be working when you click them, and the image doesn’t seem to change. However, the image appears to be formatted as desired, as I see the midsections of the models, and not the shoulders (viewing from PC).

What I recommend here is that you login to your admin, navigate to your Theme Editor (by going to Sales Channels > Online Store > Themes > and clicking ‘Customize’) and change the section that houses that image to being a ‘slideshow.’ Once you’ve done that, you will add some additional photos to the slideshow, as that will allow the slideshow to actually rotate through the set photos, and the arrows to work as expected. Be sure to click ‘save’ when the desired changes have been made. Let me know if you have any difficulties with this!

In terms of what may have caused these issues, it sounds like changes were either made within the theme editor that were saved accidentally, or an older version of your theme was accidentally published to the store. Is there anybody else that have access to your Shopify Admin? If so, they could have been working on things and accidentally saved the changes.

I invited you to follow up with me here once you’ve had the chance to read through this post, and action the feedback I’ve mentioned. Again, if you have any troubles with changing the section that should be a slideshow back into a slideshow, please let me know! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for your reply!
