Recently was testing out a discount code on our website and was unable to apply the discount despite it being active.
Also understand that the gift card text box in the check out page can also be used for discount codes. Is there a way to change it to show both Gift cards & Discount codes there?
Hi, @Paul201 . I’m happy to help you out with this! I just have a few questions to make sure I’m giving you helpful advice going forward.
Can you tell me more about the discount code you created? For example, what is the discount being offered? What conditions or restrictions have you set up for this discount?
What steps did you take to create your discount? Are you using the Discounts section of your Shopify admin or are you using a third party app?
Can you tell me more about what happened when you tested the discount code? Did you see any error messages when you tried this?
Once I have more information on the discount you created and what happens when you try it I can share some suggestions to help fix this.
For the text box at checkout, this will already show up as a text box for both gift cards and discount codes by default if you have an active discount created in your Shopify admin. You can see an example of this below. In the first screesnshot the text box just says “Gift card” because I had no active discounts set up in my store. In the second screenshot the text box has been updated to say “Discount code or gift card” because I created an active discount for my store.
Example - When there is no active discount set up:
Apparently it was some sort of bug on the system side of things and the discount wasn’t showing. What I did was just to switch off and on the product listing and the discount code (those items that I was testing out) and it works after.
