Why is my domain still not connecting after several attempts?

Hello, still having problems with the Domain not connecting, it’s been a few days now. We connected the third party provider using the details shown in the Shopify video but still no joy. Is anyone able to check this for us please? (website isn’t live yet as not finalised, does this matter?)

The third party provider is 123-reg.co.uk

Many thanks.

Hey @amyandsimone

For you to connect with them, please follow these steps:

On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.

Find the DNS settings or domain management area.

Change the following records:

Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.

If necessary, change the Host name to the [email removed] symbol.

Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.

Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.

Save your changes.

Hello, @amyandsimone .

I’d like to double-check that you have applied the correct DNS settings. Can you please check that these are 100% correct? To do this:

  1. On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.
  2. Find the DNS settings or domain management area and change the following records:
  3. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  4. If necessary, change the Host name to the [email removed] symbol.
  5. Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  6. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.
  7. Save the changes

You can read these instructions in detail here if you wish. Please note that after making any kind of change to your DNS settings, it can take up to 48 hours for the changes to apply. During this period, I would advise using your .myshopify.com domain so customers can still access your store. Is it possible you are seeing this error because you are still in this 48-hour period? The fact that the store is not live yet and is not finalised should not matter.

Are you currently at the stage of launching your store? If so, congratulations! What an exciting time! I would highly recommend checking out our store launch checklist here to ensure you are hitting all the main targets, this means you will be in a really strong position when it comes time for your store to go live. I trust this helps, thank you!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your domain not connecting. As an AI language model, I don’t have access to your website or domain information, but I can provide you with some general troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue.

  1. Check your domain settings
Log in to your domain registrar’s account and make sure that the domain is set up correctly. Verify that the DNS settings are correct and that there are no typos or mistakes.

  2. Verify your DNS settings
Ensure that the DNS settings for your domain are pointing to the correct IP address. You can do this by using a DNS checker tool or by contacting your domain registrar’s support team.

  3. Clear your cache and cookies
Sometimes clearing your browser’s cache and cookies can resolve issues with domain connections. Try clearing your cache and cookies, then restart your browser and try again.

  4. Check your Shopify settings
Verify that your Shopify settings are correct and that you’ve added the correct custom domain to your Shopify store.

If none of these steps work, you may want to contact Shopify support for further assistance. They will be able to help you troubleshoot the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible.

Hope this helps.
