Why is my domain verification taking so long?

Hi,

when try to reach to my website there is a error ! DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN !. i follow the steps for domain verification and its been 1 day there is no any e mail or verification. how long does it take. it’s a disappointment that it took this long.

Thank you for sharing your question within the community. I understand the importance of having your domain verification completed so you and your customers can easily access your website. Rest assured, I’ll share steps and workarounds to have this resolved for you.

To gather a bit more insight here, when did you follow and complete the steps for the domain verification? I would ensure you are checking the correct email address and checking your inbox, spam folder, junk, etc. Are you seeing any error messages within your Shopify admin or Settings > Domains section?

If you’ve completed the domain verification steps and still cannot locate this email within your inbox, not to worry as I’ll be able to share steps on how to re-send it.

If there is a yellow banner within the Settings > Domains section, could you try clicking Resend email. You should receive an email prompting you to click the verification link at the bottom of the email. I’ll share a screenshot below for better visibility.

Another option if you’re still not receiving the verification email is to update / change the email you have on file.

  • You’re able to adjust this within your Shopify admin by navigating to your Settings > Domains > Shopify managed domains section.

  • Once you’ve located this section, select Manage next to your domain. You should see an option to Edit within the Registrar Information section.

  • After completing this step, the verification email will automatically resend after changing the email on file.
