Why is my email subscription button showing an invalid address error?

Hello

When customers are trying to add email address this is the message they are getting

Invalid email address

Sorry, but the email address you supplied was invalid and needs to be fixed before you can subscribe to this list.

Hi @Soosan

Thank you for reaching out here.

If you use a Shopify-built theme, the best bet is to get in touch with the Support team directly as this will require troubleshooting the theme’s code. (If you use a third-party developed theme, just reach out to the theme developer and have them check it for you)

You could refer to this link, log in to your store account then type in a topic in the search bar and select Search. On the following page, scroll down to Get Support and click Continue and you’ll be presented with options to contact their Support via chat, email, or schedule a call-back.

If you find this answer helpful, please mark it as a solution.
All the best.

Hi @Soosan ,

Thanks for reaching out.

There can be a few reasons for this error to show up. However, can you tell me a bit more about the situation. Does this error show up for you and all other customers, or just one single customer?

Customer emails are first validated to see if the email domain actually exists, and if it takes too long for our system to get a response from the entered email server ‘Email is invalid’ error will show.

Emails with characters such as ć, ö, č may present the above error. This is because the character is not supported. Customers can work around this by using a unicode version of their email.

Websites such as Punycoder will convert the text to a supported domain.

I invite you to reach out to our Contact Us page. You should be able to access support options from this link directly.

If not, I can guide you step by step:

  • Firstly, enter the topic you’d like to discuss with the Support Advisor. In your case, enter a keyword such as ‘account’.
  • Then scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you should see the ‘Get Support’ button as shown below.

Let me know if that helps.

this is showing up with all customers…

Hello Iris

this is showing up with all customers

Hi again @Soosan ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It would be great to share your store link and specify which part of the website customer tried to subscribe to unsuccessfully. I would want to try to replicate the issue on our end.
