Why is my external URL in the menu being treated as a relative path?

Hi

I am trying to link to an external URL from one of my menus. I have followed the posts I have found here to set it up, but it is not working.

I am entering the external URL in the Link field of the menu item, selecting it when it pops up above the text box, and then saving the menu, as per this screen shot:

But the menu item on the live page seems to be treating this as a relative path:

Any ideas why it is doing this, and how to fix it?

Looks like your theme is automatically prepending your shop’s domain to those links. You’ll have to find the code in your theme where this is being output and remove it. Not sure if it was added for a reason, so you may want to look into that before removing.
