Why is my Friday payout missing from my bank account?

Hi! So I have been a Shopify member for over a year now and I have never ran into this issue. I have my payout scheduled for every Friday and this past Friday, it says my payout was deposited into my bank but when I look at my account there is no payment at all. I waited a few days to check again cause I thought maybe it needed the weekend to process through but I checked yesterday and there is nothing. I would like to receive my payout and really for this to not happen again. Because the amount is only $48 but my fear is for bigger amounts missing in the future. Help!

I can appreciate your concern about a missing payout, especially if you are receiving a message saying that the payout was deposited and yet you cannot see it!

I assume that you are using Shopify Payments as your payment provider. It’s true that banks typically take between 24-72 hours to process deposits to your bank account, so while we will have paid on the stipulated date you may still not see the payouts straight away.

However, in your case, it seems to have gone on a bit longer than this. Have you tried contacting your bank to see if there is a pending payout being held up for some reason?

It is possible for a payout to fail too. If the transfer was submitted on a business day and you don’t see the money in your bank account within a couple of days, this likely means the transfer failed. Banks can take up to 3-5 business days to inform us about failed transfers, at which time we send out a failed payout notification (if enabled in the Shopify Payments account settings) and update your admin banner with the reason for the failed payout.
