I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! If you are unable to see the header navigation menu, we may need to add one to the header section using the Theme Editor.
Once you are editing your theme, you can select the Header section to see if there is a navigation menu added. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to:

Your store is missing a header
You can find the file: sections/header.liquid according to the image below
If there is a file, you can add the code to theme.liquid
Please search with keyword: ‘MainContent’
you will get 1 result
Please theme the code as shown below: {% section ‘header’ %}
If you don’t see the file: sections/header.liquid , you need to contact the theme to help restore it

I have the same error, I did the process and it didn’t work. Only on my gempages products page ( https://gatte.com.br/products/hand-grip-pro ), the menu appears below several elements.
Hi … I am setting up a Shopify site for the first time and have the same problem. I can follow your instructions up until 'search with keyword: ‘MainContent’ and then I’m lost. Where do I search for ‘MainContent’? If I search in ‘search files’, nothing comes up. I can’t see a way to search in the code for theme.liquid.
Very confused … shouldn’t the theme I chose (Spotlight) automatically have drop-down menus or at least have the option to add them when editing the Header?! Thanks for any help you can give.
